< 난민 인사이트 >는 난민 주도 단체 ‘한옥커즈’가 주기적으로 개최해온 행사로, 한국에 살고 있는 난민들이 대중을 대상으로 자신의 이야기를 나누고, 이를 통해 난민-비난민간 유대감 증진과 관계 맺기를 해나가는 자리입니다.

< Refugee Insights > is a recurring event organized by the refugee-led group Hanokers, where refugees living in Korea share their stories with the public. Through these gatherings, we aim to strengthen the sense of connection and build relationships between refugees and non-refugees in Korean society.

올해 첫 번째 '난민인사이트'에서는 카메룬 식민지 시대의 언어적 분단, 그리고 그로부터 이어져 온 영어권과 프랑스어권 간의 분쟁을 다룹니다. 이 위기는 주로 영어권 지역에서 전개되어 왔으며, 오랜 주변화에 대한 항의가 분리주의 단체와 정부 간의 무력 충돌로 격화되었습니다.

이번 세션에서 크리스는 마을이 불타고, 학교가 폐쇄되며, 민간인이 양측의 표적이 된 이유, 그리고 대규모 실향문제에 대해 발표할 예정입니다. 자신의 경험을 바탕으로, 크리스는 이 분쟁이 수십 년간 수만은 난민과 실향민을 발생시킨 현실에 대해 이야기를 나눌 것입니다.

This year’s first Refugee Insight will explore Cameroon’s colonial era language division, a longstanding Anglophone & Francophone Crisis, unfolding in the English-speaking regions of the country, and protests over marginalization escalated into armed conflict between separatist groups and the government. Chris will be presenting on why villages were burned, schools shut down, civilians were targeted by both sides, and mass internal displacement. Based on his personal experience, he wants to show you how this conflict has produced hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and tens of thousands of refugees for decades.
